Samba Sisters Collective
Samba Sisters Collective is a London based women only Samba Fusion band.
We first came together for the Women’s March against Trump in London in January 2017, with the goal of empowering the women on the march as well as those in the band. The shared feeling of elation and belonging made us realise how much we wanted to continue playing together: The Samba Sisters Collective was then born.
We play Samba fusion, i.e. traditional Samba beats fused with other energetic genres. We are usually 20+, spread across eight different Brazilian instruments from large bass drums (e.g Surdos), to smaller percussions (e.g. Agogo).
The energy coming from Samba Fusion music is transporting! Not only does it create a festive atmosphere, it also lifts up the spirits of both the players and the audience, making you dance and smile, and always bringing people together.
THIS is the power the Samba Sisters Collective wants to spread, and we need your help to do this!
As a collective, we are constantly on the lookout for more women to join our band, regardless of their experience. Samba fusion sounds so powerful when we all come together as a massive band. You don’t need to ever have played any music to join us, you only need the will to learn and we will show you how quickly you can do so and how much power you have hidden deep down

Singer and Song writer and Activist
Annie Tisshaw is a Norfolk born singer songwriter who started learning classical piano from the age of 6. Starting to write music just on piano Annie was then later inspired by her favourite artist at the time Regina Spektor, after finding out that she wrote all her own songs. Annie then started adding lyrics to her compositions. Moving to London at 18 to pursue a career in music Annie studied at The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance. Writing catchy pop songs with electronic production it’s often the lyrics that set Annie’s music apart — sometimes deliberately discomforting there is sense of ownership and confidence; focussing on feminist and political themes in her characteristically self-assured yet playful style.
